If a parking barrier gate flashing light activates but the arm does not move, it usually means the controller is receiving a trigger but the system cannot start the movement cycle.
This problem may be caused by safety sensor faults, manual release mode, limit switch errors, or internal mechanical or electrical issues. When the barrier receives a trigger signal but the motor does not move, the controller may activate the warning light while preventing movement.
Common Signs of This Problem
- Barrier flashing light turns on
- Remote or push button triggers the barrier
- Barrier arm does not move
- Motor does not start
- Barrier remains locked in position
- Flashing light continues but no movement happens
What Causes Barrier Flashing Light but No Movement
Manual Release Mode Activated
If the barrier was previously placed in manual release mode for maintenance or emergency opening, the motor will not engage when a trigger is received.
Photocell or Safety Sensor Fault
If the photocell beam is blocked or faulty, the controller may stop the barrier from moving for safety reasons.
Limit Switch Failure
A damaged or misaligned limit switch may signal the controller that the barrier has already reached its position, preventing the motor from operating.
Motor Capacitor or Motor Fault
If the capacitor is weak or the motor cannot start, the barrier will receive the command but fail to move.
Control Board Input Error
Sometimes the controller receives the trigger signal but blocks movement due to internal faults or safety input errors.
